as we had some offline clarification on the topic, I want to share the summary of that clarification here:
- BRFplus triggerd the code generation automatically when you call a BRFplus function (precondition: the objects used in the function allow the code generation)
This leads to an optimal performance of the rules processing - The only way to call a BRFplus expression is via a function. You should not try to call an expression directly as this is not intended by the BRFplus framework. You alwys have to call a function in order to stay in the "borders" of te BRFplus framework
- If you want to wrap just one single expression you can use the functional mode when creating the BRFplus function and assign the expression as top expression.
- In case you have more complex conditions how and when your expression(s) should be called, it is best practise to use the event mode to do so (although you can also nest expression in the functional mode I would not recommend to do so, as the flexibility is then limited)
