Remote MS SQL monitoring without sys.xp_cmdshell

Hi all,

I am setting up techmon in solman 7.1

For this I need to monitor a remote MS SQL 2012 database, not running SAP.

The dbacockpit connection is working fine and some monitoring is available already, but

I am getting a whole bunch of the messages in SM21 on solman

SM_EFWK                  BY  2 Database error 50000 at OPC

SM_EFWK                  BY  0 > SQL Server blocked access to procedure 'sys.xp_cmdshell' of

SM_EFWK                  BY  0 > component 'xp_cmdshell' because this component is turned of

SM_EFWK                  BY  0 > as part of the security configuration for this server. A

SM_EFWK                  BY  0 > system administrator can enable the use of 'xp_cmdshell' by

SM_EFWK                  BY  0 > using sp_configure. For more information about enabling

SM_EFWK                  BY  0 > 'xp_cmdshell', search for 'xp_cmdshell' in SQL Server Books

SM_EFWK                  BY  0 > Online.

SM_EFWK                  BY  1 Database error 50000

In the remote SQL db sys.xp_cmdshell is not enabled, and if I look at the security impact, we dont want to enable it.

But I do want to get rid of this overflooding of my SM21

Which metrics use the xp_cmdshell, and by disabling them, will I still be able to monitor the SQL server?

Thanks

Sander van Gemert
